Today’s class was a bit nerve-racking for me because I totally redid my midterm for Raph over break hoping to get a grade higher then a C this time. I worked really long on it and was nervous to show it in class because I wasn’t sure how he would feel about it, but thankfully he will watch it on his own time. I was also nervous because I was stupid and forgot to get the book we were supposed to get 2 months ago but kept spacing on because I never had any extra money to get it. Thankfully again I called Border’s after class and they had 2 copies in the store so I put them on hold for me. I am almost looking forward to this next assignment. I have never done any green screening or anything close to that but I actually have a pretty good idea to how I am going to add myself into the piece and how I want it to start and end etc. and that is unusual for me. Hopefully these in progress critiques will help everyone stay on track and not stress out so much like before.
Todays Class went very will. The majority of us didn't have our books which was a bit of an issue but didn't seem to kill the over all mood the the class. In all honesty I spent the majority of class time thinking through my project and trying to change up how I plan to display my self within my piece. Also I think having the windows open and some sunlight on us NMD kids really helped everyone in waking up and participating in the class.
I must agree with what Zack said about the sunlight i felt like everyone had a bit more energy because of it.
I was surprised about the amount of people who didn't have the book as I figured I would be the only one confident/stupid enough about Ebay to wait until break to order it. I figured 2 weeks would be enough time.. Shows how much I know.
Anyway I am also excited about the next step of this project. I've honestly hated the last two parts, but this final part might actually come out well as I think I have some interesting ideas.
The vacation away was good, people seemed more energized and less burnt out today. Most everyone forgot their books; myself included, but as long as amazons plane doesn't crash we should all get out books on time. We talked a good bit about the creative process and what our instructions were for the next assignment. More commonplace in class critiques and required storyboarding will be a nice addition to the class, too often it feels like we make projects ad hoc and improvisationaly. Going through an actual process will be a nice addition (hopefully).
Raph was really alive today for just coming back from California, where he partied all week. Most people didn't have books and got yelled at which was a bit deserved. Excited to see how everyone plans to do this next assignment and a little nervous about the final that Raph has in store for us.
I liked class today, I think it was a good thing to talk about the upcoming projects and how to accomplish them. I'm looking forward to the next assignment, but at the same time I'm a little nervous about main git look really good. I've got some really good ideas as to how to incorporate myself into the piece, but I think the actual process is going to be pretty difficult.
I agree with Zack in the sunlight thing too, it seemed to make people wake up. Maybe we don't have enough vitamin d.
class today was fairly good for coming back from break. Raph seemed like he was in a good mood, everyone seemed a bit more relaxed, and the sunlight coming into the room was definately a good way to help us wake up. Though the books weren't all in, raph kept in a good mood. Definately hope my books in by thursday though.
Class today went fairly well, Raph seems to have had a great break, and hopefully his good moods will continue. I am looking forward to the rest of the semester, but I have a feeling things arent going to be easy by any stretch of the imagination.
Im going to have to agree with the sunlight comment as well, I dont think Ive ever seen daylight in that room...
I thought today's class went very well, I think everybody has a better understanding of how they will "merge" with their piece after Raph clarified a few things. It came as no surprise that I forgot to get the book, but I was surprised that most of the class didn't as well, thank goodness for Express Delivery! It seems the more I think about the project the more I want to go back and tweak individual components of it, which is why I'm glad that Raph extended the revisions until Thursday! This next project seems like it will be a challenge, but I'm sure everyone will do just as well on it as the entire class has been doing good work all semester.
Raph certainly had a good time in California over break and that mood definitely carried the class today. I feel confident that I will have good storyboards for Thursday. But it will be a bitch to execute. Hopefully we can all get it done well!
I was surprised at the early arrival of Raphael this morning. He seemed like he just got back from his LA trip and our class was his first stop. Sunlight and vitamin D help to live'n the soul. Spring is refreshing. It should give us enough energy to finish this semester. Once we all get our books, all we'll have to worry about is reading them.
It appears I'm finally being corralled into posting something here. I find it somewhat ironic that in today's class Raph said that grades don't matter, all that really matters is what you've learned and created, which i wholly agree with. What i find ironic is that even though all that matters is what one has learned and created, we're still supposed to post notes as a part of the class. After almost two decades of going to school, I am wholly confident in the fact notes are nothing more than busy work for me.
Today's class was all about people who get it or don't get it. I've been in and out of college for the last 7 years and in the beginning i didn't get it and now i fully understand it. Its almost funny to me to see people spend so much money at college and just blow off all their assignments because they feel that they are inconsequential or too small to for them to do. Guess what guys this shit will be hitting you in the face for the rest of your lives and if you don't do the small tasks in your job you will loose your job.
