    3/18/10

    Read Chapters 1-4 by Tuesday
Also for Tuesday storyboard and description

    **Description of intention**
not saying how we want to do it technically
    1-2 paragraphs, - conceptual intention

    **Storyboard**
visual representation of key visual things you want to do
-put self in there with pictures
    - 6 frames per page
    -break it into scenes
    -lines of action, main points
-size relates to actual frame size
outline what you want to do
can cut scenes& then add transition in between them
-any # of shots in a scene
-3 basic shots are – tight, medium, and long
-also want to add camera movement, truck, pan, zoom
-can shoot full body then do the other effects in AE
-scene shots & major camera things
    movement of main character

B+ = put them in slide show
A+ = animate them- show how camera moves and have sound

Give powerpoint file and description file on Tuesday
Tuesday after that, working critique, 50% done
***Something about expressions in after effects***

**$$**Final Project**$$** – all new footage, only carrying over what we learned
    Needs 3 things
    1. transition from 2D – 3D visually explore- goes both ways – formal
    2. animation & Effects = concept metaphor of meaning
    a. visual effects = what it represents/actually is … rain is rain
    b. what it means, why it is happening, perception
    All people will interpret differently
*This step is the most crucial conceptually
    *Technical
    3. Further explorations of compositing
    merging of real and generated
*everything that has an effect has a meaning for it
how does the real transform from recorded to altered
    *Technical and formal
    **All 3 steps are conceptual

No literal beginning middle and end
    Need climax
Could set it 2 song but has to be “kickass” – It’s a trap

Not so short that it looks like we wimped out
    Not so long its boring

    No time restrictions
    No limit on narrative

Must be able to justify what you want to do when you present
    Clear presentation of intention
