I was really impressed with everyones project and it was cool to see everyones different approaches to the project. I know mine wasn't as good as everyone else's pieces. I consider my piece a personal success though because I just learned about making 3D layers and using cameras two weeks ago. It is cool to see how far after effects can really push pieces visually and I'm excited to learn more about it.
Wow. I wish thats all i could write but I fear it will be frowned upon. Todays class went really well, even after Raph claimed he was going to rip everyone apart. My notes from this class were rather short, but I feel like it was because I couldn't write dude to shock. Everyone had presentable pieces, and overall it was just an enjoyable class.
Not getting hated on rules, I'm relieved we all got it done and we can relax a bit now. I thought everyone did some great work, it seemed like no one has missed a beat in using after effects. I myself am very rusty with after effects so there was a bit of refreshing going on for me. I too thought robs was badass, his lighting was awesome and I was impressed that he figured out how to use a light source on a moving object so effectively. The next assignment seems pretty cool, this class is getting more interesting now after a rather slow start.
I was so relieved when Raph actually said good things about our work today. I was expecting him to really frown apon mine as compared to the projects shown in class on Tuesday mine really lacked in the visual department. I did feel that I got my point across and that was my main goal. I did really love seeing the other pieces and enjoyed them all. Over break I'm going to push mine a little further visually to hopefully stand out a bit more as well as make sure all my audio cues perfectly match the visual ones.
I think I can speak for everyone in that today went REALLY well. I, for one, went in with this feeling of dread because I felt that my piece sucked and was expecting Raph to tear is apart. I mean even though mine and some other pieces had some issues, overall the class did an excellent job by Raph's reaction. I think our fear was a result of us reading too much into the assignment and making it more complicated than it needed to be. After today's crit, I am actually looking forward to going back and revising because I have a solid idea of the direction I want to take my piece.
HOLY SHIT DUDE people made some crazy ass shit I was also surprised at Rob piece, and Jon defiantly had a dude whacking off in his piece. All good things I hope when we see the next piece's you guys will take it to the next level and film suicides and masturbation to their fullest, just make sure you don't use any HD.
I think today went very well, and I'm glad people got the projects done, and made them in an interesting and thought provoking way. I'm having fun with my projects this semester, incorporating some not so subliminal things into my projects for shock factor, and I think things are turning out well because of it. I followed most of Raph's guidelines for success, and I think that's what I'll be doing from now on. After having time to go back and look at it, I think that I made some good color choices going with the monochrome to the full color, and I'm very happy with the end product.
I think Rob's piece was awesome, along with some others including Sam's. All in all I think we can pat ourselves on the back for this one.
Today was interesting, I think its the first time we as a group have left the class in a generally great mood. I was surprised that my piece received such a positive response, there are several things I want to add to it, things that didn't go as well as I had wanted, but at least I know Im on the right track!
Today was a stress relief for all of us. Raphael seem to be pleased with the overall outcome which means we did good. Especially after the shock he had the class before from not a lot of work being shown. I was impressed with everyones work. They all had unique approaches and style all handled very well. Critiques are fun when there is a lot good work to be shown that we can all be proud and impressed with.
